Bulma is the second (after Son Goku) character to be introduced in the series. In the early part of the plot, she is the one that has invented a Dragon Radar and is searching for the legendary Dragon Balls. She finds that Goku inherited one of the balls (the four-star ball) from his Grandpa Gohan. At that point, they team up to find the remainder of the balls and the adventure begins. As the anime progresses, Bulma's role waxes and wanes. In the later action-oriented episodes of the series, there is little room for a genius but Bulma continues to play a role as a secondary character.
Bulma is an important character of the series. Without her Goku would have never been discovered. The dragon balls would have ended up in the wrong hands, the world would not exist. Bulma is the heir to the important Capsule Corporation and as she says "brains and beauty in one package." Though her part in the series fades after the Namek/Frieza Saga she still holds an important role for inventing things the Z Warriors need. Vegeta and Bulma get together and have a child named Trunks after the Frieza saga but are not official, for at first it was just a lust thing, until after the Buu saga.
Bulma has a very spunky, tomboyish, temperamental personality. She is quite spoiled and vain, is known for her extreme intellect, and is a genius inventor. Bulma is portrayed as the daughter of the family who own Capsule Corporation. She'll do whatever it takes to get what she wants and she won't let anything stand in her way, not mountains, not monsters, not even pride, in the form of her husband Vegeta: she is in fact the only person who never seems intimidated by him (although she initially was terrified of him, she later develops a tolerance of him, and Vegeta eventually becomes the one who is terrified of her).
During the 3 years preparation for the Androids, Bulma somehow falls in love with Vegeta and they have a son named Trunks. Vegeta's pride would not allow him to show emotion towards Bulma or her Baby, but by the Majin Buu saga he finally shows them that he loves them.
Bulma's look during the first part of Dragon Ball Z. In Budokai 2, Bulma sells capsules in the Skill Shop. Bulma will wear a different costume depending on how many you have collected in Dragon World. In Budokai Tenkaichi, Bulma appears in the Options Mode explaining how the various game settings work. In Budokai Tenkaichi 2, she appears in the data center, explaining about custom characters and in practice mode along with a pink shirt-wearing Vegeta. She ... comes with her desert costume from the original Dragonball anime, once unlocked.
Bulma's look during the first part of Dragon Ball Z. Bulma's capsule appeared for purchase as the very last item. When obtained, Bulma appears as a third costume for Videl (similar to the other new actual costumes in the game, such as Piccolo-Daimaô for Piccolo). As Bulma appears as a costume for Videl, the voice used is not Hiromi Tsuru (the original seiyû for Bulma), but instead Yuko Minaguchi (Videl's seiyû). Videl's), and while she can perform "Dragon Rush," she does not have an ultimate attack (which pretty much destroys the rumors of Bulma throwing capsules as an attack).
