Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Angel Rpgs
built 387 days ago
In Buffy's senior year at school, she meets Faith (Eliza Dushku), the second current-Slayer who was brought forth when Slayer Kendra Young was killed by Drusilla, a vampire, in the second season. Although she initially fights on the side of good with Buffy and the rest of the Scooby Gang, she comes to stand against them (and along the side of The Mayor Richard Wilkins) after accidentally killing a human in the third season. She reappears briefly in the fourth season, looking for vengeance, and moves to Angel where she goes to jail for her murders. Faith reappears in season seven of Buffy, having helped Angel and crew, and fights with Buffy against the First evil.

Buffy gathers other allies: Spike (James Marsters), a vampire, is an old companion of Angelus and one of Buffy's major enemies in early seasons, although they later become allies and lovers. Later Spike, like Angel, regains his soul. Spike is known for his Billy Idol-style platinum blond hair and his black leather duster, stolen from a previous Slayer, Nikki Wood; her son, Robin Wood, joined the Scoobies in the final season. Tara Maclay (Amber Benson) is a fellow member of Willow's Wicca group during the fourth season, and their friendship eventually turns into a romantic relationship. Buffy became involved personally and professionally with Riley Finn (Marc Blucas), a military operative in "the Initiative", which hunts demons using science and technology.

Usually OK -- Christian groups are always so quick to attack Buffy the Vampire Slayer (BtVS) and its spinoff, Angel. Too often, they see the violence, the witchcraft, the demonology, the sex, etc., and regard it as somehow evil. It's true, Buffy and Angel have all these elements, but what Christians often miss is the deeper truths of the show. These elements are never shown without ... showing the dire consequences -- for example, when Buffy lost her virginity to Angel, he lost his soul, reverting back to a pure vampiric state, and spent the rest of the season stalking her and making her life hell, before Buffy ran him through with a sword banishing him to hell. Sex that brings with it a heinous stalker isn't glamorized sex; just the opposite, it's a cry for celibacy. Any violence is handled in such a way as to keep it fantasy-based (vampires don't look human when they fight Buffy for a reason, so that a message of glamorizing the harming of human beings is never inferred, for example)...

Buffy is in the line of “The Suffering Servant.” Hers is a life of constant struggle. Hers is a life that by necessity forgoes any hope of a true personal life. Another hallmark of the hero’s journey is true love denied or sacrificed, in this case, the doomed romance of Buffy and Angel. Think Romeo and Juliet, if Romeo was undead and Juliet was given the charge of killing him. She loses family (her mom) and friends (Ms. Calendar, Tara, Anya).
