The Budget Office is part of the Division of Business and Finance. The office is located at 204 N. Baird Lane. The primary functions of the office are to provide budgetary support services to the various administrative departments, to prepare the July and October Budgets submitted to the Tennessee Board of Regents, and to prepare the annual appropriation request submitted to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.
The mission of the Budget Office is to provide professional analytical and resource management expertise that support campus decision-making and effective management of campus resources. The Budget Office serves the campus current and long range planning efforts associated with the campus operating and capital budgets by providing accurate, timely, and meaningful analysis of budget and financial information. Additionally the office develops and implements policies and procedures for the effective management of campus financial resources. Services that are provided include:
The Budget Office is responsible for development and oversight of the agency’s operating budget. Insures that appropriated funds are allocated in a legal, responsible, and fair manner as mandated by Congress. Monitors execution of the budget to insure cost center managers do not exceed allocations

The University Budget Office performs many activities on behalf of the University associated with planning, analyzing, and administering the campus budget. As a part of that general purpose the Budget Office provides budget information, advice, and assistance to the campus community on budgetary matters.

Tim Norris, a veteran campus budget analyst, has been named to succeed Larry Wold as director of the Budget Office. Wold is retiring after more than three decades on the Madison campus.
