Singer: It means that humanity is more complex than people realize. Even for heroes, even as black-and-white as it is to be Superman, as idealistic and noble as that is, there's still depth and complexity to it. When people say they wish they were Superman, they don't really wish they were Superman. They wish they could do the things that Superman can do. But Superman, with that responsibility and that awareness of suffering—he's not able to have the thing he wants most, and that's a semblance of normal life and Lois Lane.

"Bryan Singer, along with executive producer Chris Lee and producer Jon Peters, are currently in Honolulu not only celebrating Lee's birthday but ... discussing the next Superman movie. Pre-production is slated to start as early as sometime mid-to-late next year, the location thereof to still be determined.

Singer was so hungry to helm this project that he abandoned the successful X-Men franchise after directing that trilogy's first two films. He was on board to direct the third film, The Last Stand, but bolted when this super opportunity arose. In Superman Returns, the protagonist, who has disappeared without a trace for years, returns to Metropolis to find that the city has moved on without him—including Lois Lane, the love of his life, who now has a fiancé and a child. And Lex Luthor is still around, stirring up big trouble.

In June 2002 filming began on X2 in Canada with Singer again directing, this time from a screenplay written by David Hayter, Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty. In 2004, X2 was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form, but lost to Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Singer himself is not expected to make an official decision either way about "Logan's Run" until "Superman Returns" bows in July. Assuming "Superman Returns" is a hit, Warners plans to start shooting the sequel in the later part of 2007 with Singer again at the helm.

Nolan will own your god damn, mother *****ing soul Singer and you better remember that. Go make Logans Run and stay the ***** away from Batman. You have no right, no god damn right, to ***** on what Nolan has started, just like you ***** on everything that has helped the character of Superman evolve post-Donner.
