Bryan Singer: Movies
built 613 days ago
Bryan Singer If you’re a fan of the original movie then head on over to Back Row Chatter to read Patrick’s excellent in depth article on the Chris McQuarrie script that Bryan Singer intended to shoot. Here’s an excerpt from the review:-
After a screening of Lion's Den, Singer was approached by someone who knew of a Japanese company that funded low-budget films. Singer wrote the concept with high school friend Christopher McQuarrie, fellow USC alumn Michael Feit Dougan wrote the first draft in ten days. The movie about a supposedly idyllic small town. Ottman again served as editor but this time ... composed the score for the film. At the 1993 Sundance Film Festival the film was named as co-winner of the Grand Jury Prize.
That DOES leave a bit of a question as to Luthor having visited the fortress but it's pretty clear from this film that Singer considers the conception of Jason to occur roughly around the "Can You Read My Mind?" sequence in the first movie. But he ... doesn't care where viewers choose to place it.
It looks like McQuarrie and Singer tried to broaden the scope of the movie and with modern effects technology it could have been truly breathtaking. If the film gets made in its latest incarnation I’ll be curious to see if it bares a resemblance to this script.
Something that might surprise some movie fans is that Bryan admitted he would have some interest in directing a Star Trek movie. It's no surprise Bryan is very open about his love for Trek including being very proud of his cameo in the last of the Star Trek films Nemesis.

Singer regards his current film work as a logical extension of his youthful endeavors. In an interview with Dayla Alberge, he stated, "My goal is to move the entire crew and cameras with the same agility that I did with my 8mm camera as a boy."
