OVERLAND PARK, Kan., April 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Brooke Corporation (AMEX:BXX) announced that its Board of Directors has declared a $.16 quarterly cash dividend on the company's common stock. Robert Orr, Chief Executive Officer of Brooke, noted that this dividend will be paid on May 27, 2005, to the shareholders of record as of the close of business on May 13, 2005, with an ex-dividend date of May 11, 2005. Based on the April 28, 2005, closing stock price of $15.85 per share, the estimated annual yield is over 4% when calculated using the current quarterly dividend rate.

Brooke was born in 1887 at Rugby where his father was a housemaster. His dominating mother exerted a tremendous influence on him. Brooke traveled in Europe where he prepared a thesis, John Webster and the Elizabethan Drama, which won for him a fellowship at King's College, Cambridge. He roamed across North America and the South Seas for the Westminster Gazette sending back narratives and poems. Brooke was an energetic aesthete skilled at playful, irreverent satire ("Heaven") and not afraid to shock his audience with graphic descriptions ("Channel Crossing").

Attracted by the Forresters' lifestyle, she once went to the hospital where Caroline, Ridge's soon-to-be wife, was being treated, and soon befriended her. After Caroline broke up with Ridge because he cheated on her, Brooke and Thorne plotted to get Thorne and Caroline together.
