Britt Ekland had a much-publicised romance with rock star Rod Stewart; they were introduced in 1975 by Joan Collins and lived together for over two years, with Ekland giving up her career to focus exclusively on the relationship. (She is heard whispering on his song Tonight's the Night, Gonna Be Alright). Stewart has since admitted the relationship broke down because of his infidelity. After a highly public and acrimonious split she sued him for $12 million; the case was settled out of court. Following the split, Ekland became associated with the term "toyboy" having flings with, amongst others, John Waite and Bay City Roller Les McKeown. From 1979-1981 she dated and became engaged to Girl frontman and future L.A.

From All Movie Guide: In the earliest stages of her career, Swedish actress Britt Ekland was "famous for being famous" as the wife of film comedian Peter Sellers. She appeared in two Italian pictures before marrying Sellers in 1963, and later co-starred with him in After the Fox (1966) and The Bobo (1967), and enjoyed good reviews for her role as a prim Quaker girl who inadvertently invented the strip-tease in The Night They Raided Minsky's (1968). Most of Ekland's subsequent films were low-budget action melodramas and leering sex comedies; she did acquit herself nicely... as James Bond's vis-à-vis in The Man With the Golden Gun (1974) and that year's cult thriller, The Wicker Man. Ekland will not likely be remembered for her cinematic triumphs, and chances are future generations will know her primarily from her brief alliance with Sellers or from her tempestuous and well-documented private life, as recounted in her autobiography True Britt. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Britt Ekland doesn't really get to show off her acting ability by portraying the character of Miss Goodnight. Goodnight is quite a bungling character that is quite clumsy. She is under instructions from M to provide Bond with any assistance she can. In reality she provides little assistance to Bond with some scenes being more a hindrance than a help.

Thirty-year-old Rod fell head over heels in love with 31-year-old Britt Ekland in 1975, moving into the Get Carter actress' London flat just a month after meeting her at a Los Angeles concert. "We were inseparable, kissing and cuddling in our newfound passion," Britt wrote in her 1981 autobiography. "We were oblivious to the stares and embarrassment we caused."
