Itn.co.uk reported a new drive to protect the copyright of musicians could mean pop stars like Madonna and Britney Spears picking up extra royalties from mobile phone ring tones. Pop artists and other composers now have the right to demand payment if their work is sampled and used for ring tones. Many people are already used to having an often bewildering choice of ring tone when they buy a phone. But a number of websites have sprung up offering customised novelty tones - often using pop hits of the moment, or popular TV theme songs. Users of the websites are able to "download" the tone by entering their mobile phone number. Some sites - like www.yourmobile.com - offer ring tones but make it clear the music is offered by agreement with the copyright owners.

In the wake of another hearing on Britney Spears' affairs, there's another behind-the-scenes shake-up in the works. At a Thursday hearing, the presiding commish granted Spears' conservators — her father, Jamie, and lawyer Andrew Wallet — the right to fire her manager (the real one), Howard Grossman.Commissioner Reva Goetz required that Grossman turn over "all documents, records and assets relating to Britney Spears" to the conservators. And while Grossman has not yet officially been fired, he is reportedly close with Sam Lutfi, the Britney associate who has been at odds with the Spears family. In the meantime, Britney's lawyers, Trope and Trope, have filed papers asking to be removed as her counsel. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for March 10. With all of this turnover, it looks like Britney might really be on her way to a clean slate, at least on the managerial front.

Britney had lawyers draft several documents... we’re told she did not sign a durable power of attorney giving Lutfi the power to make medical decisions on her behalf. Nevertheless, something was signed and doctors are going to Lutfi for guidance. Jamie went off on Lutfi in the hallway, accusing him of trying to control his daughter.

"Britney called Adnan for help and he heard the distress in her voice and drove to the Summit immediately. While outside the gates he was denied access as Sam Lutfi had informed the guards that he was not allowed entry. When Adnan then tried to call Britney it seems that Sam had turned all of her cell phones off."

On last Saturday night and the early hours of Saturday morning, Britney invited a new paparazzo, Filipi Teixeira, into her mansion. She entertained him and possibly Sam Lufti and another paparazzo at her house.
