In 2003, Britney Spears began studying the faith of Kabbalah and became a member of the controversial Kabbalah Centre, along with many other Hollywood celebrities. She did so after having been introduced to the faith by friend and mentor Madonna. Soon after joining, Britney’s mother Lynn became a member, and Britney had a Hebrew tattoo inked onto her neck (מהש) representing the 72 names of God in Kabbalah.

Known simply as "Brit Brit," Britney Spears constantly keeps her fans and her detractors on their toes. Launching onto the scene in the '90s as a teen pop sensation, she dominated radio waves as well as MTV programming. Now a mother, Spears has proven she still has what it takes to top the charts with her latest single Gimme More from her album Blackout.

Rosie O'Donnell has renewed her offer to adopt Spears (in free verse, naturally); Gwen Stefani has expressed her desire to "scoop her up and give her a kiss"; late-night comics are pulling their Britney punches. It seems to be dawning on at least some people that the 25-year-old mother of two is actually a human being for whom things are going very badly.

Even before her mother's visit, say sources close to Britney, she was determined to win back 50-50 custody of her children. "When Britney's not with them, she's always talking about them," says one of Britney's friends. "She'll say what they mumbled that day, what they did. She's a very proud mother. She's taking all her orders seriously and doing what she's got to do. She wants to be with her boys more than anything."
WENN reported that talented singer and author Britney Spears' debut novel A Mother's Gift has bombed in Britain - selling just a few hundred copies, and ranked a lowly 2,202 by internet booksellers Amazon. Thanks A51JM,
