Britney Spears married her boyfriend Adnan Ghalib during their trip to Mexico last month, it’s been claimed. Spears and Ghalib ditched the paparazzi with a false report she was in New York, before later seen in Rosarito Beach. ‘Star’ magazine reports the reason behind their secret trip was a quickie marriage.

Britney Spears feels totally betrayed by her mom, her soon-to-be ex husband, her former manager and Promises, the rehab facility she called home for nearly a month. In short, she claims she never had a drug or alcohol problem but was railroaded into rehab.

Allstar reported that Britney Spears, Ricky Martin, Toni Braxton, Jennifer Lopez, Martina McBride, and SheDaisy head the initial list of performers for the 28th Annual American Music Awards, set for Jan. 8, 2001. Spears will open the show, which airs live on ABC, with her current hit, "Stronger"; Lopez will perform her upcoming single, "Love Don't Cost a Thing," which she debuted at the 2000 MTV Europe Awards earlier this month; Martin offers "She Bangs"; and McBride will croon on "It's My Time." Additional performers are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Faith Hill leads all nominees for the 2001 AMAs, which will be held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Thanks A51JM.
The next issue of Blender will reportedly feature Britney Spears on its cover, with whatever poor sap who was contracted for the story spending "a month on a Britney safari, following her actions and talking with those closest to her." (When I think of the words "Britney safari," I think of the 2001 VMAs, but that could just be the PTSD talking.) While this does square with those reports of the mag needing a Britney body double a few weeks ago, and it certainly will sell copies off the newsstand, wouldn't an expedition like this be better suited to a blog? Or is the whole story going to be prefaced by an explanation of the concept of "lead times" for less savvy readers? [Page Six / Photo: Getty]
