BRITNEY SPEARS will mark her pop comeback with a magical performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (09Sep07), according to reports. The singer has been in the music wilderness since 2003, when her fourth studio album was released. Since then she has only released a greatest hits album and an LP of remixes - and she has become better known for her personal struggles. But a U.S. newspaper claims Spears has choreographed a comeback and will perform two songs - new single Gimme More and another track Cry - at the ceremony in Los Angeles. Spears' dancer Ruben Dario tells USA Today that the stage show will be choreographed by magician Criss Angel, who will set up mirrors to allow the Spears to appear and disappear.

ITN reported that Britney Spears is hotly tipped to star in a remake of 1988 vampire film The Lost Boys, which will begin filming next year. The original film starred Kiefer Sutherland, and depicted a gang of motorbike-riding vampires, who terrorised a small Californian town. The movie was hugely successful and would mark a credible move into film for Britney. The new film, which is being written by Joel Schumacher, director of the original, will feature an all-girl biker gang. The girls turn into vampires at dusk. It seems that the teen singer is keen to make the remake.

BRITNEY SPEARS' record label Zomba has sued celebrity blogger PEREZ HILTON for illegally posting tracks from her forthcoming album on his website. The company claims Hilton - real name Mario Lavandeira - illegally obtained and uploaded at least 10 completed songs and incomplete demos from new LP Blackout onto the site. The copyright infringement lawsuit was filed by Zomba - which owns the copyright to Spears' recordings - on Thursday (11Oct07) in the U.S. district court in Los Angeles, but does not specify the amount of monetary damages being sought. Zomba has confirmed Spears is not a party in the case. It comes just a day after Lavandeira was the subject of a court summons (10Oct07) to appear in the dock in a $20 million (GBP10 million) defamation case over claims he accused DJ Samantha Ronson of being responsible for the cocaine found in Lindsay Lohan's car following her (May07) arrest for driving under the influence (DUI).
