Rovers fans at the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff in 2007 When Bristol Rovers were known as Black Arabs F.C. in 1883, they played their home games at Purdown, Stapleton. The following year they moved to Three Acres, the precise location of which is not known, but is believed to have been in the Ashley Down area of Bristol, where they remained for seven years. This was followed by brief stays at the Schoolmasters Cricket Ground, Durdham Down and Ridgeway.
Bristol Rovers continued to have the vast majority of the ball but do nothing with it - true Reading style - but for a change it wasn't the Royals. Reading kept it nice and tight with Primus winning everything in true Primus style. The home side won plenty of corners but did nothing with them - again in true Reading style. And Reading to their credit held onto the lead without looking like losing it. On the half hour Reading made it two-nil, with Nicholls grabbing his second of the goal in some style - a gorgeous long range volley from the on-loan striker that steamed into the corner of the net with the keeper well beaten. A two goal lead away from home? Almost unheard of.

Bristol Rovers entered the third division in 1921 and the next decade was a decent time for Rovers. By the year 1939, they had fallen into debt and had to re apply for election in to the football league. Their fortunes failed to improve until new manager, Bert Tann was installed in charge of the club and his team won promotion into the second division where they remained for eight years. The 1970’s was a decent time for the club, reaching the fifth round of the FA Cup in 1978 and 1979. They suffered relegation in 1983 back into the third division... after a convincing 1989 – 1990 campaign, they topped the third division, earning promotion to the second division. They could not sustain a place in the second division and have hovered around the third and fourth division over the last decade.
Bristol Rovers Bristol Rovers took a point home from the long trip to Carlisle last week. Steve Elliott gave the visitors a first half lead, but Danny Graham levelled things up. The Pirates are still awaiting their first home win of the season, but a fine away record has carried them to ninth in the table with 10 points from seven games.
The transfer of Lee Hodges from Rochdale to Bristol Rovers has finally been confirmed by the club. Manager Ray Graydon had announced that the deal was only waiting for a medical to be completed for the transfer to go through and after a long delay it was completed earlier this week. More..
If Liverpool’s home form is a concern, Bristol Rovers efforts are just bizarre. Since coming up from League Two the Pirates have chalked up just 3 draws in five home starts but on the road they are unbeaten in five games gathering 9 points in the process.
