Synopsis: Too old to be a gamine yet not old enough for matronhood, Brigitte Bardot is the ideally cast leading lady of Serge Bourguignon's Head Over Heels. Bardot plays a thirtysomething beauty who finds herself torn between two desirable lovers. The film's alternate English-language title, Two Weeks inRead More

Paris schoolgirl Brigitte Bardot anonymously pens a steamy best-seller, prompting her father to ship her to a convent. Not even her sheltered new home can keep Bardot out of trouble, as she teases men throughout Europe and eventually turns stripper. AKA: "Mademoiselle Striptease," "Please, Mr. Balzac." 99 min. Standard; Soundtrack: French Dolby Digital mono; Subtitles: English; theatrical trailers; filmography. In French with English subtitles.
In this light-hearted look at the DVD releases of Brigitte Bardot’s films, only legally available ones (highlighted in blue) are reviewed. It is highly likely that more (and better) DVDs will appear in the near future, in which case this article will be updated. Equally (and this is the Senses co-Editor now speaking), authors are invited to compile annotated DVD lists on their favourite actors, directors and DOPs, etc. That does not mean they should feel obliged to follow the format used below.
Synopsis: Brigitte Bardot was only twenty-four when she was featured in this typical sexual drama yet she was already a star on the international film scene. In this story she is Eva, a perfect blonde who has all the men in Seville, Spain chasing after her, though she is not interested in any of them. EvenRead More

[W]hen it came to racy French films in the '50s, that title could mean only one thing: the gorgeous Brigitte Bardot! Here she plays the bored daughter of a Parisian nightclub owner. Entrusted to the care of a lounge singer, Bardot winds up involved with counterfeiters and on stage in sizzling dance numbers. Jean Bretonniere, Bernard Lancret ... star. AKA: "Mam'zelle Pigalle." Soundtrack: English (dubbed).
Viewers of the DVD have yet another concern: at the start, there is 52 seconds of music over a black screen, before cutting to an opening credit as Brigitte drives down the Champs-Elysées, away from the Arc de Triomphe. Actually, this is not pre-credit music: the first six shots of the film are missing visually, as if some forgot to flick the switch in time.
