Brenda Lee (born December 11, 1944) is an American country-pop singer, who was immensely popular during the 1950s and 1960s. In the 1960s she had more charted hits than any other woman, and only three male singers/groups (Elvis Presley, Ray Charles and The Beatles) outpaced her. She was one of the earliest pop stars to have a major contemporary international following.
Picture of BRENDA LEE Lee soon became one of the best-selling female singers of the sixties. She could rock with the best of them, but as her voice matured she concentrated on singing heartfelt standards and newly written ballads. Between 1960 and 1973, she had fifty singles on the pop charts, including “I Want to Be Wanted” (#1, 1960), “Fool #1” (#3, 1961), “Break It to Me Gently” (#4, 1962), “All Alone Am I” (#3, 1962), “Too Many Rivers” (#13, 1965), “Coming on Strong” (#11, 1966), and the Christmas classic “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” (#14, 1960).
If you’d like to get into the swing of Christmas with Brenda Lee, tickets are $50, $40, and $30 at La Piazza Cucina 609-522-8300 or at www.Ticketmaster.com or by phone at 800-736-1420. It’s a Christmas party where everyone can have fun. But Sara Lee is no relation, so you’ll have to bring your own pie.
At 62, Lee is still as sassy and bubbly as ever. She comfortably chatted with the crowd in a friendly Southern drawl, like she's known each and every fan in the audience for years. Sporting a teased blonde hairdo, the diminutive singer -- she's all of 4 feet 9 inches tall -- talked about her past and her family and cracked one too many slightly off-color jokes.

At age 5, Brenda represented the Conyers Georgia Grade School in an annual Spring Festival talent contest, conducted among several area elementary schools. She won first prize in the talent contest and was runner-up in the beauty contest.
Her remarkable ability to master different styles allowed Lee to adapt gracefully as she outgrew her teen idol status. A newly sophisticated stage act, emphasizing torchy ballads, won over both television and Las Vegas audiences. In the early 1970s she, like many other early rockers, adopted a country style.
