For the entire decade of the 1960s, Lee was the top female charted act and fourth overall charted recording artist behind Elvis, the Beatles, and Ray Charles. She appeared alongside Elvis at the Grand Old Opry in 1957, and during a 1963 tour, her concert in Hamburg, Germany was opened by a then-unknown group of longhaired fellows, known as The Beatles.

What did your producer, Garret Jacknife Lee, bring to the table He likes to make big, sonic sounding records. If the show can get any kind of ratings, it’ll be back. You saw the Golden Globes, right Oh, that’s right, nobody did.

Apart from performing, Lee is a tireless supporter of the Nashville music community at large and of numerous charitable organizations. She has served on the boards of the Country Music Association and the Recording Academy (the Grammy organization) and has been active with the Kidney Foundation, the American Cancer Society, the Multiple Sclerosis and Cerebral Palsy organizations and the March of Dimes.

Brenda has 29 gold records to her credit and has won every pop award except the Grammy although she has received four Grammy nominations. She has been awarded five Edisons from Holland, that nation’s Grammy.
