In "Side Order of Life," 30-year-old Jenny McIntyre (Coughlan, "Boston Legal"), is a photographer for a national magazine. Disconnected from the world, Jenny's life has been purely superficial, including planning every precise detail of her upcoming wedding to her fiance Ian (Priestley, "Beverly Hills, 90210"), a hotshot businessman with more style than substance. In an instant, Jenny's perfectly mapped-out life veers off course when she learns life-altering news from her brash and outspoken best friend, Vivy (Riva, "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip"). This news serves as a wake-up call -- and rebirth -- for Jenny, who instantly begins to open herself up to the power of life. At work, Jenny's boss, Rick (Christopher Gartin, "House"), believes in her as a potential reporter and gives her the opportunity to cover an important story to test her mettle.
Boston Legal is an Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning American dramedy television series that began airing on ABC on October 3rd, 2004. The show is a spin-off of the long-running legal drama The Practice. The series, like its predecessor, was created by David E. Kelley. It follows attorney Alan Shore (a character introduced during the last season of The Practice, played by James Spader) to his new law firm, Crane, Poole & Schmidt. It ... stars veteran television actors Candice Bergen and William Shatner.
Boston Legal has turned many people onto the Shatkins Diet. Created by William Shatner, his diet reinforces the five main food groups, Hamburger, Beef, Sirloin, cheap fruit salad, and wooden fake cigarettes. Shatner insists that this is not a diet, but rather a lifestyle. The diet was first written about in the 1990's in William Shatners book the Shatkins diet, but the diet was relatively unheard of until Shatner stared as Denny Crane in Boston legal. With the show Shatner regained status as a sex symbol almost overnight. Despite his weight he was still able to get married at least every other episode.
Several episodes of Boston Legal allude to Star Trek and its various spin-offs. William Shatner (Denny Crane) gained fame for playing the role of Captain James T. Kirk in the original series and seven of the ten feature films that followed. Rene Auberjonois (Paul Lewiston) previously appeared as Security Chief Odo in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Auberjonois ... appeared in the film Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country in the uncredited role of 'Colonel West' and in an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise entitled "Oasis" in the role of 'Ezral.' John Larroquette (Carl Sack) appeared in the film Star Trek III: The Search for Spock as 'Maltz'.
