Bonnie Raitt: Blues
built 627 days ago
Bonnie Raitt's appearance at Montreux in 1977 was a part of her first European tour. This DVD gives ample evidence that the young Bonnie already possessed the qualities that would later make her a multi-award winning star. Her trademark combination of acoustic balladry, electric rock and gritty blues is in full evidence. As a bonus, four tracks from Bonnie's return performance in 1991 are ... included.

Bonnie Raitt's sincere and fluid R&B style has been inspiring audiences for over 30 years. Curiously, although Bonnie Raitt is now a household name, she struggled for decades to achieve even mild commercial success. She has been widely lauded as one of the most virtuosic white female R&B singers ever to perform. She learned the blues at the young age of 12 and started touring the circuit after dropping out of college in the late 1960s.

Ever wonder where Bonnie got that funky version of "Kokomo Blues"? A funky, slightly grungy electric style that is tremendously soulful. His slide work doesn't seem technically advanced, but it is charged with power, and completely arresting. Raitt took that power and smoothed it out a bit -- you might find you like the unburnished originals even more!
