Only a couple of years away from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame eligibility, Bon Jovi is still selling albums and cleaning up at the box office. Mega-tour promoter AEG won a publicized bidding war for the band's 'Have A Nice Day' tour, which brought in $110 million last year in ticket sales. Bon Jovi sold 3 million records worldwide last year. Their new album hit stores in June. Guitarist Richie Sambora earned the band additional press for his controversial relationship with his ex-wife's former close friend Denise Richards.

Bon Jovi's eponymous debut album was released in 1984, and "Runaway" became a Top 40 hit. Following its success, Tony Bongiovi sued the band, claiming he developed their successful sound; the group settled out of court. The following year, 7800 Fahrenheit was released and went gold. Despite the band's respectable success, Bon Jovi weren't becoming the superstars they had hoped, and Bon Jovi changed their approach for their next album, Slippery When Wet. Hiring professional songwriter Desmond Child as a collaborator, Bon Jovi wrote 30 songs and auditioned them for local New Jersey and New York teenagers, basing the album's running order on their opinions. After ditching the original cover of a busty woman in a wet T-shirt for the title traced in water on a garbage bag, Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet was released in 1986.
Jon Bon Jovi In 1983, Bon Jovi visited the local radio station WAPP 103.5FM "The Apple" in Lake Success, New York. He spoke directly to the D.J., Chip Hobart, who suggested Bon Jovi let WAPP include the song "Runaway" on a compilation album of local homegrown talent. Bon Jovi was reluctant but eventually gave them the song on which Bon Jovi had used studio musicians to play on the track "Runaway" (originally written in 1980). The studio musicians who helped record "Runaway" were known as The All Star Review. They were: guitarists Dave Sabo and Tim Pierce, keyboardist Roy Bittan, drummer Frankie LaRocka and bassist Hugh McDonald.
Alec John Such, former Bon Jovi bassist, was born on November 14, 1956 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Alec is 1.75m tall. He is divorced from his first wife. Alec currently lives in Colts Neck, NJ. Before joining Bon Jovi, Alec played in bands such as Phantom's Opera (with Tico) and The Message (with Richie). Alec, who left the band in November 1994, collects antique guns for a hobby.
