Boeing: Orders
built 658 days ago
Boeing will deliver the refurbished test airplane later this week to the launch customer, Brazilian low-cost carrier GOL Linhas Aereas S.A. The jet is the first of 67 737-800s ordered by the carrier.

If Airbus appears to covet recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records, Boeing seems predisposed to making a favorable impression in airlines' inventories. To date, carriers have ordered 159 A380s, and almost twice as many 787s.

Garuda Indonesia PT will place an order for 10 Boeing 777-200ER aircraft to strengthen its fleet for long range flights to Europe, the Middle East and East Asia. A memorandum of understanding will be signed with Boeing during Singapore Air Show from February 18-22, and the leased aircraft will be delivered by phases starting 2010. The new order will not affect one made earlier by Garuda for a number of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to be delivered in 2012, Ari said. Garuda ... already has a leasing contract for 50 B737-800 planes expected to start arriving here next year.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, scheduled for entry into service in 2008, provides passengers with a better flying experience and operators with a more efficient commercial jetliner. To date, 51 airlines have logged 736 orders, making the Dreamliner the most successful commercial airplane launch in history.
Boeing's 698 gross orders to date is 30 percent higher than the 531 firm orders it had at the same time a year ago. That was Boeing's best year ever. Boeing booked a record 1,044 net orders in 2006.
The departure of top Boeing [BA] salesman Toby Bright provides further evidence of intense pricing competition from archrival Airbus. In the final days of 2004, Airbus seems set to once again beat Boeing in both annual orders and production.
