Boeing: Orders
built 629 days ago
The narrow body Boeing 757 replaced the 707 and 727 In the beginning of the 1970s, Boeing faced a new crisis. The Apollo program, in which Boeing had participated significantly during the preceding decade, was almost entirely canceled. Once more, Boeing hoped to compensate with sales of its commercial airliners. At that time... there was a heavy recession in the airlines industry so that Boeing did not receive one single order for more than one year. Boeing's bet for the future, the new 747, while delayed in production by only three months because of problems with its technologically advanced Pratt & Whitney engines, it exceeded its estimated development budget by a considerable amount.
Boeing has won several key 737 orders so far this year, with more likely. Formerly known as the 7E7, the 787 represents a significant and unprecedented leap for Boeing. Smaller business and military jets have made extensive use of composites, but what Boeing is doing with the 787 has not been attempted before with a plane this big. The twin-engine 787, which is a little bigger than the 767 that it replaces, will carry about 225 passengers in a three-class configuration. In addition to the widespread use of composites, the 787 will be much more of an electric airplane than current jets, which use air bled from the engines to power some onboard systems. And the 787 will have new engines that are more fuel efficient and quiet than anything today.

[T]he government is continuing its investigation into the contract negotiations in order to find out if other Boeing officials were involved in criminal conduct. According to the Chicago Tribune, an internal email, discovered by an internal Boeing investigation, shows that Sears told three other top Boeing officers about a meeting in which he offered Druyun a $250,000-a-year job. Boeing has not released the exact contents of that email, reports the Tribune.
Three C-17s unload supplies to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi in August 2005. In July 2006, C-17A production was planned to end in 2009 unless Boeing received a follow-on order in sufficient time to allow the production pipeline to remain in operation. If such an order is placed, Boeing would begin C-17B production in 2010. The proposed C-17B would be capable of landing on sandy beaches and other areas off-limits to the C-17A.[12]
Red Barn Using the experience gained from the MB-3A, Boeing began to develop its own pursuit designs. The XPW-9, which would become the Model 15, beat out Fokker and Curtiss fighters in Army evaluations in 1923. The Army ordered 30 of the biplane, designated PW-9, and the Navy ordered 14, designated FB-1 through FB-6.
Boeing launched the 777 Freighter in May 2005 with an order from Air France. The freighter variant is based on the -200LR. Other customers include FedEx, Emirates Airline, and Air Atlanta Icelandic.
