LONDON, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Boeing (NYSE:BA) established a new world record for distance traveled nonstop by a commercial airplane when a Boeing 777-200LR Worldliner landed at London Heathrow Airport today. The 777- 200LR (Longer Range) flew 11,664 nautical miles (21,601 km) during its 22-hour 42-minute flight that left Hong Kong flying eastbound the evening of Nov. 9. The distance set by the 777-200LR is farther than any previous commercial jetliner has flown and exceeds a distance of more than halfway around the world."This record-setting distance flight exemplifies the pioneering aviation spirit that has made Boeing a leader in the aerospace industry," said Lars Andersen, vice president and program manager, 777 Program, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "The 777 has been a leader in its market ever since it first went into service. Boeing's schedule begins on Saturday, Nov. 10, with a press conference at 1200 hours for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. On the same day, Integrated Defense Systems, with its Saudi Arabian partner Alsalam Aircraft Company, will co-sponsor the Middle East Air Chiefs conference. Boeing Capital Corporation will host on Nov. 13 a financiers and investors conference, recognizing Dubai's leading regional role as a financial center.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a mid-sized, wide-body, twin engine jet airliner currently in production by Boeing Commercial Airplanes and scheduled to enter service in November 2008.[3][4] It will carry between 210 and 330 passengers depending on variant and seating configuration. Boeing has stated that it will be more fuel-efficient than earlier Boeing airliners. It will ... be the first major airliner to use composite material for most of its construction.[5]

At a news conference with Scott Carson, CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, to announce the 787 order, Hazy was asked if he agreed with comments made at the air show earlier this week by Tim Clark of Emirates. Clark told reporters that Boeing's approach in designing the 787 with large one-piece composite fuselage barrels represented the future of the industry.
