In his private life Bobby Jones was a successful lawyer. In 1942 he joined the Army Air Corps, landing in Normandy the day after D-Day (his unit had been converted to infantry). Slowly, though, the syringomyelia made walking more difficult, and he died from complications of the disease.

Bobby Jones was fantastic, no doubt. So were Gene Sarazen and Walter Hagen and, later, Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan and Sam Snead. They begat Arnie and then Jack. And now there's Tiger.

In addition to The Ambassador, Jones has another release coming out later this year — this one on the big screen. Jones plays Pastor James in the film Dirty Laundry, which sees theatrical release in late December but won best film and best performance (Loretta Devine) at the American Black Film Festival earlier this year.
