Bobby Jones: St Andrews

Unfortunately in 1958, Jones became wheelchair bound due a spinal disease. When he died, a memorial service was held in his honour at St Andrews. His portrait hangs proudly in the R&A clubhouse. The USGA Museum has a room dedicated to his memory.

The people of St. Andrews confer the Freedom of the City and the Royal Burgh of St. Andrews on Jones. The only other American ever so honored was Benjamin Franklin, back in 1759.

The script, which -- unlike Seabiscuit -- follows a standard biopic formula, really can't forge anything terribly inspiring or dramatically compelling or even coherent out of Jones' quest to master what can be the most frustrating of all sports. [More]
