Bobby Hamilton Jr. appeared to be a driver on the verge of greatness as the 2000 season concluded. In his first full season in the series, the 23-year-old son of Winston Cup driver and CTS team owner Bobby Hamilton won his career first pole position in the Homestead season finale and ended up 19th in the point standings for Carroll Racing, which competed for the balance of the season without sponsorship. Despite that, Hamilton Jr. scored a top-5 and three top-10 finishes in 32 races.
On Lap 195, Keselowski, Bobby Hamilton Jr. and Jason Leffler went three-wide into Turn 1. The No. 88 and Hamilton Jr.’s No. 35 made contact, sending the left side of the No. 88 into the wall. Keselowski was able get the car turned around and drove it back to the garage area for repairs.
In 1998, Hamilton Jr. began to run some races for the Sadler Bros. Racing #95 team. He made his debut at Rockingham in October, where he started in 27th position. He led four laps and finished 37th, three laps off the lead. He ... made the race at Atlanta, had a 19th place start and 20th place finish.
Hamilton Jr. hopes Montrealers will mingle with the many Southern fans who plan on making their first visit to Montreal by actively participating in the time-honoured ritual of tailgating. “Bring beer and somethin’ to grill,” he advises.
On the next green flag run Hamilton Jr. rocketed up through the running order. He was 7th by lap 73, two laps later he was 6th and two laps after that he climbed into the top-five.

Race organizers will be competing with Divers/Cité for like-minded fans, so Hamilton Jr. offers his unfettered advice. “If y’all wanna go to the gay party, go to the gay party, and if y’all wanna see NASCAR, go see NASCAR. It’s your money and your time.”
