   Within just a short time, the BMW Welt in Munich has become an extremely popular highlight for visitors. In the first 100 days following the Opening Ceremony on 17 October 2007, more than 500,000 guests have visited the BMW Welt.Right from the start on the opening weekend the curiosity aroused by the building’s trend setting architecture created by Professor Wolf D. Prix and the specific exhibitions presented by BMW attracted no less than 80,000 people to the BMW Welt. Since then more than 15,000 have joined in guided tours of the location, all of them fully booked. To date BMW Welt was ... the starting point for 25,000 visitors going on the new Plant Tour on the Production Mile in the BMW Plant next door, where some 900 units of the 3 Series come off the assembly lines every day.
3. Bmw Motorcycles -- Bmw Ag
   In 1937, Ernst Henne rode a supercharged 500 cc overhead cam BMW 173.88 mph (279.83 km/h), setting a world record that stood for 14 years due to the intervention of World War II. Ernst Henne died at the age of 101 in 2005.

   From 1966, BMW transfered the production of motorcycles step by step to Berlin which was finished in 1969. From that day, every BMW motorcycle was built at the Berlin factory-except the transmission, which is built by GETRAG at Ludwigsburg. The only exception is the F650 which was built in Noale, Italy by Aprilia until 2002. The frame production was outsourced to the BMW building at Berlin-Reinickendorf.
5. Bmw 7 Series -- Bmw Hydrogen
   At the other extreme, BMW says a hydrogen-fueled 7 will be on sale before the current series is replaced around 2009-10. No details yet, but BMW's work in this area so far suggests a conventional V8 or V12 with special electronic controls that allow running on compressed hydrogen or gasoline. BMW has spent big on developing this bi-fuel system, and apparently feels it's now ready for consumers. Though no one else is following BMW down this road to the "hydrogen age," the company believes its approach is more acceptable in the luxury class than a gas/electric powertrain. It ... claims the technology offers near-zero-emissions benefits today, and is much cheaper than hydrogen fuel cells that won't be practical or affordable for some years yet. Again, no word on timing, but you can bet the hydrogen 7 will be a costly, limited-production item.
6. Bmw M3 -- New Bmw M3
   The new BMW M3 is available with a choice of no less than four M metallic paintwork options giving particular emphasis to the interaction of the body surfaces, the contours and proportions of the car. Coming with a light shimmering effect, Melbourne Red, for example, combines unique brilliance and colour depth. Jerez Black, on the other hand, boasts blue pearl pigments to again provide unique highlights and unprecedented appeal. Powerful Interlagos Blue, in turn, incorporates red colour pigments to provide a highly attractive interaction of blue and violet from various angles. The fourth colour already well known from the BMW M5 and BMW M6 is Silverstone, a light silver colour with a slight touch of blue.
7. Bmw M3 -- Bmw M3 Sedan
   Styling on the BMW M3 Sedan boasts an athletic, sporty stance. Of course there is the trademark double-kidney shaped grill and flat headlight unites with standard Xenon headlamps but the face of the new M3 Sedan includes a power dome in the middle of the hood. The “gills” on the two front side panels incorporate the tri-color M3 logo. The usual four metallic paints (Melbourne Red, Jerez Black, Interlagos Blue, and Silverstone) specifically for the M Cars complement the M3 Sedan but the vehicle is ... available in Apline White, Jet Black, or Sparkling Graphite Metallic. Standard M-style light-alloy spoke wheels are 18 x 8.5 inches with 245/40 low-profile tires in the front and 18 x 9.5 with 265/40 tires at the rear, though 19” versions are available.

   When the ban on the production of motorcycles was lifted in Allied controlled Western Germany, BMW had to start from scratch. There were no plans, blueprints, or schematic drawings. Company engineers had to use surviving prewar motorcycles to create new plans. The first post-war BMW motorcycle in Western Germany, a 250 cc R24, was produced in 1948. The R24 was based on the prewar R23, and was the only postwar BMW with no rear suspension. In 1949, BMW produced 9,200 units and by 1950 production surpassed 17,000 units.

   Total sales in the BMW Motorcycles segment rose in the third quarter 2001 to euro 246 million, which was 20.6% higher than in the same quarter last year.
