Bloc Party's inner punk... is subdued for a moment allowing "Blue Light" to shine. It is a beautifully wispy serenade to the lost love you can't get over. The theme continues with "This Modern Love" but quickly toughens up with "Pioneers," "Price of Gasoline," and "Luna."

The members of the crowd began to cheer when they spotted the drummer from British rock group Bloc Party on the balcony, taking pictures of the crowd waiting in front of the stage. A few minutes later, the lights dimmed at the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden. Screams filled the theater, and a nervous excitement could be felt in the air. It was the beginning of a great Wednesday night in New York City.

Bloc party Boston Globe Eight years ago Michael Curry dreamed of organizing a networking event featuring live music for young professionals of color in Boston. Instead he and Darius McCroey nixed the live music, added free food, and created the Collaborative Cookout, a picnic that helps local organizations and businesses owned by or serving people of color to thank the public for its support.

By the time you read this all the noise has probably died sown on Bloc Party having been "The Comin Of," "The Next Big Thing," or just "enter your tag line here." Is it, was it, deserving? The jury (real music listeners) may still be sequestered but the attorneys (music critics) have made up their final anayses on Bloc Party's music, which chillingly romps through its punk asethetics while blatantly showing off a penchant for catchy melodies.
