Blake Edwards Born in Tulsa, Okla., on July 26, 1922, Blake Edwards was the grandson of silent-film director J. Gordon Edwards but chose to start out as an actor. He turned his attentions off-camera in the 1950s, penning screenplays and directing a trio of cinematic successes with Operation Petticoat (1959), Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) and Days of Wine and Roses (1963) before co-writing and directing the first of many Pink Panther comedies.

But with so little to depend upon in today's world, each new installment has become like a visit with old friends who are often annoying and frequently boring, but are missed in some strange way when they're not around. read more

The Southern California chapter of Mystery Writers of America presented its third annual lifetime achievement award, "The Marlowe," to writer-producer-director Blake Edwards (of Pink Panther, Peter Gunn, etc., fame) at a June ceremony at the Friars Club. Bob, chapter president, looked on as the presentation was made by special guest Julie Andrews.
