Black Friday can shape up as even more important this year as consumers who planned to shop on that day expect to spend 42% of their 2007 holiday-season budgets, compared with 36% last year, according to a Cowen & Co. survey. Discounters, department stores and big-box superstores are the most likely destinations for shoppers, with high-end consumer electronics, such as flat-panel televisions and GPS systems, prominently featured as specials this year, analysts said.

The online store will offer additional items on Black Friday, and even more on cyber Monday. Traditionally, the actual printed ads come with your newspaper on Thanksgiving Day... in some areas they will be in the paper on Wednesday or on Black Friday itself. Check with your local newspaper if you need to know the exact date. Some retailers such as WalMart occasionally distribute their ads sooner, either with the newspaper or in the mail. Some stores have the ads at the actual stores days in advance of Black Friday as well.
