People who feed birds are advised that their feeders can be a magnet for more than just songbirds. In addition to squirrels, feeders ... may attract anything from mice to black bears, as well as predators such as hawks and cats. If a bear begins frequenting your yard, it's usually better - and less expensive - to pull your feeders for a couple of weeks, rather than trying to match wits with the bear, which quickly can become an unwelcomed daily visitor and quite destructive. Bears may show up at a feeder during winter warming spells and any time after early April, when they usually emerge from winter dens.

This feeder will lure these pesky critters away from bird feeders. Provides hours of enjoyment. Squirrels must learn to pull down bar to be rewarded with food. It should be a crime to have squirrels and not this feeder!! For best results put on a tree.

Tube feeders are great for smaller, perching birds like finches and chickadees. They allow the birds to eat without being turfed out by bigger nuisance birds. There are even special finch feeders, a variation on the tube feeders, that cater only to finches and other small birds. There is a lot less seed spilled with tube feeders, and they're easily squirrel-proofed. Hopper feeders allow for a large amount of seed to be dispensed bit by bit to feeding birds. These are universal feeders, catering to all sorts of birds.

Sometimes the placement of a separate and isolated squirrel feeder is the best way to keep squirrels away from bird feeders. Squirrel feeders typically offer a whole dried cob of corn, often at the top of a rotating stick to add a bit of amusement to their antics.

The Bouncer is a new squirrel-proof, selective bird feeder that allows you to feed only the birds you want. It has a simple, effective design with weight-sensitive perches that will only support your smaller songbirds. Squirrels, starlings, jays and grackels get the boot!
