Yet he stays within his range and doesn't overemote; the wistful shuffle "I Used to Be a Lion" finds him effectively portraying a man looking back on better times.

Billy Bob Thornton risks community ostracism when he builds a rocket in his backyard for a global orbit. Given that Thornton is the only actor now working who could even halfway sell the concept, better this than Steve Carell and his ark in the the dumb and deadly Evan Almighty.

Billy Bob Thornton Tickets Thornton is a rare celebrity in that he has A-list status, but plays both leading-man roles and character roles. His southern, small-town persona has led him to be cast in a number of down-to-earth, "regular guy" parts. Even his role as the legendary Davy Crockett in 2004's The Alamo made an effort to demythologize the character and bring out his human foibles.
