An ambitious Billie enrolled in the Sixth Sense theatre company in 1990, which gave her acting experience in several television commercials and an episode of The EastEnders. After a year of studies at Secondary School in her hometown, she was accepted into the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London. Despite her attendance at the prestigious school, Billie's busy schedule forced her to continue her education with a private tutor.

Piper also appears in an ITV2 adaptation of Belle de Jour, a book detailing the life of a high-class prostitute.[4] The racy new show is entitled Secret Diary of a Call Girl and is airing from 27 September, 2007. The series sees Piper in several semi-nude scenes, where one scene features her saddling a client and riding him like a horse.[5] The first episode attracted strong viewing figures of 1.8 million and became one of ITV2รข€™s biggest ever audiences since the channel's debut in 1998, and the biggest audience since August 2006.[6] It became the top multichannnel show during its timeslot and also the highest rated non-terrestrial commission of the year to date.[7]

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, today confirmed by the BBC, Piper will appear in at least three episodes towards the conclusion of the fourth season, which is currently being filmed in Cardiff. The 25-year-old actress will star alongside Catherine Tate's Donna Noble, and the returning Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones.
