Bill Romanowski (nicknamed "Romo", full name William Thomas Romanowski , born April 2 , 1966 in Vernon , Connecticut ) is a former American football player. A linebacker , he graduated from Rockville High School in 1984 , Boston College in 1988 , and then went on to a 16-year career in the NFL , playing for the San Francisco 49ers , Philadelphia Eagles , Denver Broncos , and Oakland Raiders . He played 243 consecutive games, an NFL record among Linebackers, won 4 Super Bowl Championships, and is the only linebacker to start 5 Super Bowl Games. He recently admitted to taking steroids , tarnishing the image of the NFL.
Bill Romanowski is suspected in taking steroids to help him excel in football. One of the side affects to taking steroids is something people call "roid rage". This is when a person on steroids takes his anger out of something or someone that is not a big deal. In 2003 Bill Romanowski smashed Marcus Williams face with one punch during a practice. Williams was awarded 340,000 dollars in damages. This was probably caused by roid rage.
Tight end Marcus Williams, who sustained a serious eye injury when he was punched by linebacker Bill Romanowski during a Raiders practice Aug. 24, 2003, has sued Romanowski for battery, according to published reports. The civil suit, filed in Alameda County (Calif.) Superior Court on Oct. 16, 2003 seeks unspecified damages for alleged battery, negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
