An accomplished conductor, composer, pianist and arranger, Bill Rogers was born in Port Arthur. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1956 and went on to graduate from Lamar University. His lengthy career includes arranging and conducting for such legends as Jerry Lewis, Frank Sinatra, Shirley McLaine, Frank Sinatra Jr., Tony Bennett, Bill Cosby, Johnny Carson, Barbara Streisand, Bob Hope, Steve Lawrence and Edie Gorme. For a class reunion and as a special tribute to his home town, Rogers wrote a symphonic arrangement of all the high school fight songs from Port Arthur including T.J. High's "The Old Maroon and Gold." Samples of his arrangements can be seen and heard in the Museum's Music Hall of Fame.

Bill Rogers has been a technical writer, a newspaper reporter and radio newscaster. This background plus an intense interest in genealogy and history came together to create “The Planters” in his mind. An electronic engineer with an interest in Boy Scouts, his many interests include yacht racing and traveling in his motor home. As a Navy veteran and aviator, Bill’s many contacts cover a wide range of social strata. He lives in Florida with his wife Ann and two felines named Marc Anthony and Cleopatra.

Bill Rogers started off as a stage and television actor. he had always been a fan of anime, and in 1999, he got his first role, a small part on The Irresponsible Captain Tylor. Since then, he has gone on to voice many notable characters in various anime series. He is known among fans, and co-workers for his sense of humor.

Coming in as the new head coach of the Randolph-Macon College women's volleyball team in the summer of 2002, Bill Rogers was no stranger to the town of Ashland. For seven years, he was very successful as the head coach at Patrick Henry High School, which is just minutes from the Randolph-Macon campus.

Bill Rogers was born an entrepreneur. He started his first company by talking his father out of 10 acres of cotton in South Texas at the age of 10. At age 15, he bought a combine, hired 3 trucks and cut grain from Corpus Christi to Waco Texas. Mr. Rogers graduated from the University Of Texas with a BBA and moved to Houston Texas.
