Sometimes credited as the more formal William Hicks, the bass vocalist, choral singer, and keyboardist Bill Hicks has appeared in shows such as Sitting Pretty. He should not be confused with the jazz trumpeter of the same name, nor the pro-marijuana comedian who died in 1994. ~ Eugene Chadbourne, All Music Guide

Bill continued to expand his mind with drugs, taking LSD, mushrooms, cocaine, Quaalludes, ecstasy, meth amphetamine and of course marijuana. Hicks claimed to have been abducted by aliens, (he was high at the time, but he claimed it was unrelated), other drug influenced visions included Jesus riding on a unicorn, and a dancing Hobbit. All of these he remembered for his acts, it should be noted, that contrary to government propaganda, he never saw an egg turn into a brain. With his drink, drugs and sex lifestyle, combined with his lack of respect for petty politics, Bill became an underground star, an outlaw comic, following in the footsteps of Sam Kinison, Ron Shock, Jimmy Pineapple, and other self-styled comedians.

Bill Hicks - Slight Return Chas Early is skating on very, very thin ice with this portrayal of Bill Hicks. The vitriolic American comedian, who died a decade ago, has achieved legendary status, and his acolytes are no more tolerant of fakes and phoneys than the great man himself.

Bill was an American comedian who mixed comedy with spirituality and philosophy immaculately. Raised in Houston, Texas by two Christian parents, Bill’s talent was evident from an early age when school teacher’s would allocate the young comedian a slot of class time to entertain fellow students as a plea bargain to stop Hicks distracting the pupils during the rest of the lesson.
