For the past two weeks, Bill Cosby has been through a horrendous upheaval in his life with the mysterious murder of his only son while changing a tire on a LA freeway. Within a 48 hour period while this news was breaking, a young black woman was arrested in New York City for attempting to blackmail millions from Cosby by accusing him of being her father and going to the press with the relevation.
Bill Cosby is one of the world's most beloved actors, writers, and most of all fathers. Cosby makes honest and true observations on life in all of his work. His humor will not only have you holding your sides laughing, but will often cause you to stop and think.
Bill Cosby African-American entertainer "Bill Cosby", in his own words, "started out as a child," the son of an eight-dollars-a-day maid and an absentee father. A product of grinding poverty, Cosby escaped his rundown Philadelphia neighborhood by dropping out of high school and joining the navy. He earned his diploma via correspondence course, then earned a football scholarship to Temple University. Working nights as a bartender, Cosby discovered he had the ability to make people laugh, so he temporarily shelved his plans to become an athletics teacher and set out to become a nightclub comedian. Most black comics of the era used the race issue in their act; this didn't quite work for Cosby, but relating humorous reminiscences about himself and his childhood buddies worked beautifully.

Cosby ... became well known with children through his “Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids” animated program, which he produced, provided voices for and hosted. As a stand-up comedian, Cosby recorded many successful comedy records. When “The Cosby Show” premiered in 1984, it was seen as groundbreaking for not perpetuating racial stereotypes. The show ended in 1992, but he soon found television success again with the sitcom “Cosby,” which spanned 1996-2000. Many of today’s top comedians, including Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and Jerry Seinfeld, cite Cosby as one of their biggest influences.
Bill Cosby was very interested in education and this led to his involvement with creating several educational series for children: namely ‘The Electric Train’ series for PBS and the highly popular Saturday morning show called ‘Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids’. This show was used by some schools as a teaching tool ... became the topic for his doctorate degree in education. His thesis was titled ‘An Integration of the Visual Media via Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids into the Elementary School Curriculum as a Teaching Aid and Vehicle to Achieve Increased Learning’.

It remained for over half of its fifty-four weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List as #1. It has sold 2.6 million hardcover copies and 1.5 million paperbacks (published by Berkeley).
