The panel discussion with Condon gave an intimate understanding of how a kid raised in an Irish Catholic home came to conquer the cutthroat Los Angles film industry. After entering Columbia University at the tender age of 16, he gradated with a degree in philosophy. Condon moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA, but he never made it to the university. To make cash, Condom wrote a movie think piece for a magazine; a reader impressed by his film knowledge offered him a job making horror flicks.

In 1976, he moved to L.A. to pursue film and later landed a script-writing job for the horror films, Strange Behavior (1981) and Strange Invaders (1983). After a series of thriller and horror movies, Bill Condon directed the acclaimed Gods and Monsters, starring Sir Ian McKellen and Brendan Fraser.
Condon was born in New York City and attended Regis High School and Columbia College of Columbia University, where he studied philosophy. After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree, Condon began to work as a journalist for film magazines including American Film and Millimeter. He got his start writing low-budget features including Strange Behavior (1981) and Strange Invaders (1983). His directorial debut was Sister, Sister (1987), an eerie gothic mystery starring Eric Stoltz and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
