Beverly Enterprises is one of the nation’s largest skilled nursing and assisted living organizations with over 350 facilities around the country. Its Chief of Operations knew that the company’s existing maintenance processes, infrastructure and scheduling capabilities were wildly inefficient and impossible to track. Consequently, Beverly sought to standardize its maintenance procedures, tighten its internal controls and add significant visibility into its portfolio. With a complex operations profile and thousands of facility employees, the task was not simple. It needed to communicate a single standard to thousands of employees, train personnel at each management level, establish a common maintenance plan, deploy an easy-to-use communications infrastructure and integrate its new maintenance operations into a nationwide corporate Intranet.

To break out of the cycle of costly upgrades and diminishing application performance, Beverly Enterprises decided to centralize its IT environment. The company was able to use existing client hardware, but deliver applications to them remotely from a central data center. Beverly achieved this by standardizing on a combination of the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 operating system, including Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services, and the Citrix Access Suite which builds on the capabilities of the Microsoft Windows Server System. After deciding that Citrix Presentation Server best addressed their application deployment needs, Beverly Enterprises chose to implement the entire Citrix Access Suite, including Citrix Access Gateway™, Citrix Password Manager™, and Citrix Presentation Server. The solution provides users with secure access via an SSL/VPN network using the Citrix Access Gateway, enterprise single sign-on and password management capability with Citrix Password Manager, as well as application deployment through Citrix Presentation Server to Beverly’s user population.

Hospice Preferred Choice, a division of Beverly Enterprises, will be expanding and relocating it's offices in November. Hospice Preferred Choice will be moving into a new 4,000 square foot suite to accomodate their expanding business in the Greater Boston area. Fillmore Strategic Investors, LLC, is an affiliate of Fillmore Capital Partners — a private equity firm focused on investments principally in the lodging and healthcare sectors.
