Elvis Perkins, 6 months, was named not for some pelvis-shaking singer but just because his folks, actor Tony Perkins and photographer/model Berry Berenson, found it euphonious. Yet his big brother, Osgood, 2, can't pronounce it and calls the kid "Mushy." That term could be applied equally __if not pejoratively__to the domestic ecstasy of the whole Perkins menage. It's all a miracle not from Lourdes but from Vienna. Tony freely concedes that it took him 40 years of living, the formative last nine in psychotherapy, and the revelation of Berry before he could cope with a genuine relationship with a woman. Berenson, meanwhile, 24 at the time, found in Perkins the first man she could live with.
The UNESCO – Berry Berenson-Perkins Fund provides support for the UNESCO program, The Power of Culture, which addresses post-trauma syndrome and the social exclusion often experienced by young people affected by conflicts and natural disasters around the world. In response to such situations, the program offers arts and creative activities to engage young people’s curiosity. Gaining new knowledge in a safe environment, rediscovering their past history and their cultural identity, and learning how to express their creativity will give young people the best tools for imagining and progressively building their future.
While Perkins summed up his personal tragedy, après Flaubert, with: "Face it gang, I am Norman Bates," Berry Berenson has been given a very different memorial. In the wake of the horror of her death, her spokeswoman Susan Patricola commented: "She was one of the loveliest, greatest people on the earth, full of life." At the time of her death, Berenson was returning home to Los Angeles after holidaying on Cape Cod. She is survived by her two sons by Anthony Perkins: Osgood, aged 27, and Elvis Perkins, aged 25.

Ast was "deeply affected" when Berenson was killed on American Airlines Flight 11 during the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. "Unbeknownst to Ast, Berenson had been mobilizing Ast's friends to fly her to New York for the launch of a new book on Halston which conincided with Ast's 60th birthday on October 21."

A written statement released by the family said that Berenson was returning home to her sons after a Cape Cod vacation. Berenson had recently completed a book on the late designer Halston in which her photographs are used. In addition, many of her photos have graced past covers of "Interview" and "Life" magazines.
