Berlin Wall: Soviet Union
built 627 days ago
World in Conflict presents a chillingly authentic Cold War scenario where the Berlin Wall never fell. Created by Cold War authority and best-selling author Larry Bond, the story begins in 1989 as the Soviets, fearing certain collapse, boldly advance into Europe. NATO responds in force only to be met on a second front — a full-fledged invasion of the American homeland. Players take on the role of field commander, leading the era’s most powerful military machines in the campaign to retake America’s cities and suburbs.

Twenty-four years after President John F. Kennedy's visit to Berlin, as tensions between the two superpowers eased, President Ronald Reagan made a historic appearance at the Berlin Wall. He spoke passionately about the advance of human liberty and challenged Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down this wall" the ultimate symbol of Communist suppression and ... demonstrate a commitment to profound change.

In what sometimes seems like a trick played by time, a decade has flashed past since the fall of the Berlin Wall. It will not be long until a decade has ... gone by since the Soviet Union disintegrated, disappearing into that dustbin of history with which Soviet leaders sometimes threatened their foreign enemies. These events of 1989 and 1991 neatly frame the endgame with which the long Cold War drew to a close. We are at a curious pass today, one sufficiently removed from the intense competition of the Cold War that the whole begins to come into view, yet close enough so that much that happened (or did not) during that conflict remains secret, shrouded in mystery.
