The Berlin Wall was heavily guarded and around hundred people were killed and many more were seriously wounded trying to cross the wall. The last person to be killed was Chris Gueffroy on the 2nd June, 1989.
Despite the fall of the Soviet Union and the Berlin Wall, Communism is alive and well in the most unlikely places. It’s thriving in the hearts and minds of blind Party loyalists today. Most of them are unaware that blind Party loyalty is the core design of Communism. It’s the means by which people are driven to look past truth, common sense and personal thought, and walk the line of collective thought.
East German construction workers building the Berlin Wall, 20 November 1961. During the Wall's existence there were around 5,000 successful escapes (a form of illegal emigration) into West Berlin. Varying reports claim either 192 or 239 people were killed trying to cross and many more injured.
