During his Benjamin Franklin lecture, John showed videos of how PongSats are lofted into the upper atmosphere. During one recent flight, the PongSats were stowed in fabric bags mounted within a platform loaded with instrument and cameras (see JP Aerospace for photographs).

In 1728, when Franklin was 22, he started his own print shop with a partner, Hugh Meredith. The two of them published a weekly newspaper called The Pennsylvania Gazette. In 1730 Franklin bought Meredith's share of the business.
Returning from England in 1775, Franklin surprised some by coming out in favor of independence. For Franklin, this stance carried a personal price. His son William, the Royal Governor of New Jersey, remained loyal to the Crown, and father and son never reconciled.
In recent months he and Peter Earnest, head of the International Spy Museum and a former CIA officer, have toured the country giving talks on "Benjamin Franklin, Master Spy," as part of the Tercentenary Commission's travelling museum show. In November 2002, Srodes was one of the speakers at the Royal Society's annual Franklin symposium.
In 1776 Congress sent Franklin on his most important diplomatic mission. He was asked to persuade France to help America in its fight for independence. Before he left he lent Congress about 4,000 pounds of his own money to help carry on the war. He reached Paris just before Christmas.
three Franklin ’s rise to prominence in Philadelphia was marked by his brilliant and entertaining writing, hard won business success, and most especially, by his genius for social organization. The first of his so called “Junto” gatherings occurred in 1727, when Franklin invited 12 of his most “ingenious acquaintances” to join together for “mutal improvement”.
