Former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has been killed in a suicide attack as she was leaving a political rally in the city of Rawalpindi. At least 21 people died in the attack, local reports say. The attack has been condemned internationally. Earlier in October, a suicide bomber in Karachi killed 136 and injured over 450 Benazir Bhutto supporters.

British investigators from Scotland Yard have concluded that former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was killed as the result of a suicide bomb blast and not an assassin's bullet. The results of the investigation were handed over to Pakistani government officials in Islamabad. VOA correspondent Meredith Buel has details.

--> This morning former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto urged President Pervez Musharraf to step down after she was put on house arrest for the second time in five days. The opposition leader said she would not be able to rule alongside Musharraf in the future because she could not trust him. Musharraf came to power in a 1999 coup and has been a valuable U.S. ally in the war on terrorism.

Benazir Bhutto has been murdered, shot by a suicide bomber who fired at her vehicle before blowing himself up. Bhutto was leaving after addressing an election rally in Rawalpindi. At least 20 people were killed and several more injured in the blast. The former Pakistani prime minister may have had dark foreboding about her death when she said in London before returning to her country in October that there are "people who want to kill me".
