The worship of Ben Stein was once only practiced by rapists and blasphemers, but now it is becoming more popular due to his film career. The first organized group of Ben Stein worshipers called themselves " Children of Stein " and where active in Philadelphia during the 90's. Now they have spread across all of North America and parts of Europe. Although Stein Worship is still believed to be the sister religion of Satanism, it has become socially acceptable in most parts of the world.

On May 14, 2006, during an appearance on the Fox News program Your World with Neil Cavuto, Stein called for a tax increase of 3.5% for wealthy Americans, to be earmarked for soldiers and military initiatives. Indeed, Stein wrote an editorial for the New York Times critical of those who would rather make money in the world of finance than fight terrorism.[9]

The Fall 2006 Jack Maddox Distinguished Lecture Series, hosted by College of the Southwest, will present An Evening with Ben Stein on Tuesday, October 3. Stein will take the stage at Tydings Auditorium on the Hobbs High School campus, located at 800 North Jefferson, at 7:30 p.m.

Some have called Stein a "Nixon apologist" due to his fervent defense of Nixon's legacy. As recently as 2005, in the American Spectator, Stein said "Nixon was a peacemaker. He was a lying, conniving, covering-up peacemaker. He was not a lying, conniving drug addict like JFK, a lying, conniving war-starter like LBJ, a lying, conniving seducer like Clinton—a lying, conniving peacemaker."
