Belladonna is available by prescription both alone (in high concentration strength) and in combination with other drugs. Currently available prescription combinations include belladonna with opium (for uterine pain), kaolin and pectin (for diarrhea), pheno-barbital (for menopausal symptoms and migraine prophylactic), other barbiturates (for insomnia and for cramping and muscle spasms in the digestive tract), or belladonna and opium suppositories (for severe intestinal cramping).

Belladonna is often confused in the public mind with Dulcamara'(Bittersweet), possibly because it bears the popular name of woody nightshade. The cultivation of Belladonna in England dates at least from the sixteenth century, for Lyte says, in the Niewe Herball, 1578: 'This herbe is found in some places of this Countrie, in woods and hedges and in the gardens of some Herboristes.' Though not... much cultivated, it was evidently growing wild in many parts of the country when our great Herbals were written.

Belladonna... known as Deadly Nightshade, may be used as a Homeopathic or used simply as a micro-nutritional (botanical). The Balkan War of 1912-13 interrupted the continuity of Belladonna exports from South Hungary. Stocks of roots and leaves made shorter supplies last out until 1914, when prices rose, owing to increasing scarcity roots which realized 451 s. per cwt. in January, 1914, selling for 651s. in June, 1914. With the outbreak of the Great War and the consequent entire stoppage of supplies, the price immediately rose to 100s. per cwt., and soon after, from 3001.

Belladonna uses a gas gun to propel the various gasses. She ... has a special system of tubing stitched into the lining of her coat sleeves, which is activated by an unknown mechanical linkage, for use in the event she is disarmed and needs to employ her gas.
