Most of the members of the Beastie Boys have been working together since their humble beginnings in Brooklyn, NY in 1979. The current members of the group include: Adam Yauch (aka- MCA), Michael Diamond (aka- Mike D), Adam Horovitz (aka- Adrock), and most recently Michael Schwartz (aka- Mix Master Mike). They have put out seven separate albums over the years, as well as several additional compilation albums. Their latest album came out in June of 2007, entitled The Mix-Up (a purely instrumental album). Their first album, Licensed to Ill, came out in 1986, while they were still working with Def Jam Records. During that time, the Beastie Boys would tour with Madonna, Run DMC, LL Cool J, Whodini, and the Timex Social Club.

Rob Corddry with the Beastie boys at the 2007 WEBBY AWARDS Photo The Beastie Boys were the first white group to offer a successful send-up of rap. After emerging from New York's hardcore punk underground of the early '80s, the group crossed over into the mainstream in 1986 with its first full-length album, Licensed to Ill, the first rap album to hit #1.

The Beastie Boys returned to New York City in 1997 to produce and record the album Hello Nasty. The album displayed a substantial shift in musical feel, with the departure of DJ Hurricane. He was replaced by Mix Master Mike, who added to the Beasties' sound with his kinetic DJ style. Released July 14, 1998, Hello Nasty clocked first week sales of nearly 700,000 in the U.S. and went straight to #1 in the U.S., the UK, Germany, Australia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, and Sweden. The album achieved #2 rank in the charts in Canada and Japan, and was in the Top Ten in Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium, Finland, France, and Israel.

The Beastie Boys started in 1981 in New York City by Adam Yauch, Mike Diamond, John Berry, and Kate Schellenbach. In 1982, right after releasing their first EP, Adam Horvitz joined the band. The Beastie Boys were signed to Def Jam Records in 1985. In 1986, they came out with Licensed to Ill which included their anthem, "Fight For Your Right."
2007_08_beasties.jpg The Beastie Boys themselves were great but whomever was in charge of the venue/logistics sucked. It was a huge clusterf*ck. The overcast skies & forecast indicated rain (and the tickets stated "Rain or Shine") so a lot of people brought umbrellas only to be forced to leave them in a pile at the entrance. WTH?
