built 212 days ago
King doesn't record too frequently anymore, though his "BB King & Friends – 80" album won the traditional blues Grammy Award in 2006. But King's looking forward to the September opening of his B.B. King Museum in Indianola, Miss. Along with honoring the man himself, the museum ... will focus on the people and culture of the Mississippi Delta.

Despite the fact that King vowed not to tour abroad anymore after 2006, the 15-time Grammy winner is obviously not slowing down. When he's not playing live, he's being called to pick up accolades, the most recent one being an honorary doctor of music degree from Providence, RI's Brown University. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer ... has a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Grammy organization on his mantel and added the Presidential Medal of Freedom award in December.

After his well-documented accident (Recent newspaper headlines proclaiming "Barry Manilow Breaks Nose"), could it be that Barry Manilow, the arch-priest of schmaltz - might be on the verge of being re-invented as a King of Cool? There is something deliciously absurd about the man and his world-famous proboscis, but not so absurd to have prevented him from selling 58 million records, winning a Grammy, an Emmy, a Tony and playing both the Superbowl and Bill Clinton's inaugural ball.
