After World War II (1939-1945) Bavaria was included in the United States Zone of Occupation. A new constitution was drawn up in 1946, and in 1949 Bavaria became a constituent state of West Germany. In 1990, West and East Germany united and became the Federal Republic of Germany.

Bavaria is located in southeast Germany, and borders Switzerland, Austria, and the Czech Republic. The southern border of Bavaria, adjacent to Austria, is delineated by the Bavarian Alps. The capital city of Bavaria is Munich, where Oktoberfest takes place every year. Other important Bavarian cities include Augsberg, Nuremburg, and Regensburg. The Danube and Main rivers flow through Bavaria, as well as many other minor rivers.

Howard Heinz was the son of Bavaria immigrant, John Henry Heinz, who founded the Heinz company in 1869. After attending the small, private Shady Side Academy, Howard entered Yale University in 1900. He joined Delta Kappa Epsilon, an exclusive fraternity whose members have included Presidents George Bush, Jr. and Sr., Vice-President Dan Quayle, banker J.P. Morgan, newspaper magnate William R. Hearst, chewing-gum millionaire William Wrigley and motel man, Howard Johnson. When Heinz left Yale, he worked his way up through the family business from advertising and sales to president. He led the company for 22 years (1919-1941).

After the great success of the Bavaria 27Sport, the cockpit of the new Bavaria 30 Sport was extended and is layed out similar as the 27Sport. The interior has not suffered by the extended cockpit and has been re-done, too. The new layout with the head on starboard and the pantry on port sides makes the new Bavaria 30 Sport larger and more spacious than the 29 Sport.
