Battletech is a half hour long cartoon in a half hour format. This cartoon is an attempt to tie in with the immensly popular role-playing game by the same name. It fleshes out some of the storyline running in the game world. It ... has segments in it that are computer generated. They make this cartoon more interesting, although it has a strong ongoing storyline. The story is set in the future, with a group of freedom fighters who must battle genetically-enhanced soldiers to save the Earth.

Battletech gets off on a slow start. It will take a lot of running around before the game opens up, which can put a lot of impatient players off. In the beginning you'd have to join the academy and undergo a mandatory training. But if you persevere, you will be rewarded with a lot of entertainment. After you are out of the academy, there will be a huge world in front of you waiting to be explored. The plot remains rather thin throughout the game, but still with its share of twists turns.

It is currently in an alpha state, and could change radically, but it is not expected. If you are designing a HUD, thinking about designing a HUD or just interested, you can get the specification from here. Thud and btsuite (both listed above) already use HUDINFO. Discussion about HUDINFO should be directed to the btech-discussion@lists.sourceforge.net mailinglist.
