Even though Battlefield 2 is a sequel to Battlefield 1942, there are many changes to the popular gameplay of the original. Many of these new gameplay features were added to the game with teamwork and collaboration in mind. The new game engine includes improved physics, dynamic lighting, and more realistic material penetration.

Sword Fight, Desert Combat and Battlefield 2 are modern day war games, or Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six for that matter. Vodoo, it is a future war game, like Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter but with tanks and choppers and crap. Secondly Battlefield 2 isn't like CS, it has vechicals for one and the gameplay is quite different, espiecally with the whole commander thing and the squads idea is pretty cool. Agreed some BF2 maps feel too much like a standard CS game since there are no vechicals but not all maps are like that.

All in all, despite a few problems with lag and a buggy patch, Battlefield 2 has improved tremendously from earlier games in the series, particularly Battlefield Vietnam. The game’s new Squad and Commander features alone are worth the upgrade. If you find a group of good, organized players all using VOIP, you’ll wonder how you ever did and do without it in other games.

As promised, the Battlefield 2 demo is now available for download, offering the chance to sample the military shooter sequel from Digital Illusions (DICE).
