Okay Batman Returns, the 2nd installment in the series of batman movies, was a good movie but could have been better. Penguin and Catwoman both, were unnescessarily gruesome, compared to the comic book counterparts.

The successful movie sequel Batman Returns spawned many different game adaptations. The SNES version presents the story of Batman's encounter with the Penguin and Catwoman as a side-scrolling beat'em'up, with one Batmobile driving sequence thrown in.

(screen shot) Batman Returns is definitely a graphically advanced game. Obviously this game was developed with the movie, as several scenes come straight from it. Sound is ... excellent. Unfortunately, having only one life and no continues does distract from the fun of it. Worth a second look.

One nice thing about the home-video experience: It cuts movies like Batman Returns down to size. Because there are fewer distractions in videoland — no leather-lunged media hype, no opening-weekend grosses — you're left contemplating what Kant called the old ding an sich — the thing itself. And this opportunity for reassessment is even more illuminating when you watch Returns as the second half of a video double bill with the first Batman. Shorn of their cultural imperative-their exhausting, market-driven need to be Of The Moment — these two juggernauts are clearly after different things. Simply put, if Batman is intent on building the franchise, Batman Returns wants to shoot the T-shirt full of crazy little holes.

You are in time The graphics in Batman Returns were pretty reasonable; Batman was very large and looked like his movie counterpart. The backgrounds were very dark and true to Batman's flair. Plenty of movie scenes were capture in the game like the mall, and the sewers where the Penguin resides. The enemies ... resemble some of the goons you faced in the movie.
BATMAN ON FILM, since June 1998! "Some critics believe that BATMAN RETURNS... uneven, achieved a certain Gothic grandeur and was most true to the spirit of its source in pushing its protagonists to the extreme. Others found it too dark and perverse, especially for a movie bound to attract large numbers of children."-Les Daniels, "BATMAN: THE COMPLETE HISTORY."
